I believe I would excel in a position relating to public relations and/or publicity. I have a passion for entertainment, and I know that a large part of success in the industry has everything to do with promoting your product (whether it be film, television, radio, music) in a positive and visible way. In the recent years, possibilities in publicity and marketing have grown rapidly, and the advent of viral marketing campaigns and cryptic website campaigns have opened up a creative medium in which advertising is no longer an exclusively solicitor-based market. These new marketing strategies allow consumers who are curious about your product to seek you out and become engaged in your brand and product, without feeling as though advertising has an intrusive effect on their lives.

Similarly, the advent of Web 2.0 has created new challenges and opportunities in the field of PR. Whereas it was once possible to manage public opinion through the use of print and television media, the rapid growth of blogs and gossip websites has necessitated more careful management of clients and affiliates to prevent the "wildfire effect" of false or defamatory statements from consuming public opinion. Through discreet and personal communication with both the media and the parties involved, a cooperative and beneficial relationship can exist between both.

I believe that my ability to write and communicate effectively would make me an ideal candidate for these types of positions. I understand the nuances of tact, and I understand the importance of confidentiality and timely response. I can be an effective, positive face for a company, and I can also handle the inevitable pressure that comes with such a position....
