What are the top three things affecting our industry today?
1. New Media: The internet has exploded not only affecting sales in the music industry, but now it's affecting the film industry. People are wondering why they should go to the movie theatre when they can easily download movies or watching clips on Youtube. 2. Recycling of Ideas and Lack of Original Content: There seems to be an easy way out for filmmakers and studio executives by making a quick buck by reviving old ideas. Pretty soon, all the original material will be remade or sequeled resulting in a "no way out" business. 3. Conservatism: Although the MPAA Code was raised in the late 1960s, there are still issues that Hollywood is afraid to address. Studios are afraid to expose controversy, and even though it's done once in awhile by releasing films such as "Passion of the Christ", I feel it's not done enough. It's almost as if Hollywood plans how many controversial movies are released....
