Responsibilities:
Fox Digital Media/Beliefnet.com Director of Video Strategy
Beliefnet's Director of Video Strategy will own the company's strategy for making Beliefnet the definitive content aggregator and distributor of online spiritual and inspirational video. We look to the person in this role to drive this aspect of the company's business and to define & implement product roadmaps and programming strategies for video on Beliefnet, Beliefnet's Brightcove syndication network(s), on the Spirituality channel Beliefnet is creating for Hulu, and on Hulu syndication partners. The Video Director will be responsible for coordinating internal teams, including technology, editorial, marketing, and sales - as well as contractors and third party content partners. This is a key role in New York requiring product development and product management skills, a good blend of communication skills, business acumen, technical knowledge and leadership ability.
Responsibilites:
* Lead the development & execution of Beliefnet's overall video strategy- both on the main website and through syndication * Define & implement product roadmaps & programming strategies for video on Beliefnet, Brightcove syndication, Hulu, and Hulu syndication * Chair cross-departmental programming group to set editorial priorities that guide both acquisition & original production * Guide development of user interfaces, wireframes use cases, metadata specs, taxonomy, and related links to both related videos and non-video Bnet content * Create process for acquiring, editing & uploading partner content with appropriate channel taxonomy, segment descriptors, thumbnails, etc. * Evaluate, curate, and deploy growing library of incoming partner content * Define reporting requirements for internal use & partner reporting and manage Omniture optimization * Regularly engage with edit team on idea generation, partner targeting, and to maximize promotion of successful video * Partner with marketing to ensure strong brand development of Beliefnet Spiritual Video Network * Work with Sales to insure adequate inventory for existing campaigns and to develop large-scale, targeted sponsorship opportunities across the network * Continually guide refinement & improvement of Beliefnet's video product based on performance metrics and broader industry best practices & innovation
Qualifications
* Prior management experience with a digital media business * 3-5 years of product management experience and proven ability to lead cross-departmental, virtual teams * Must be a committed team player, able to work both independently and interact with executive management, and other staff members * Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal * Attention to detail and strong track record of successful execution & follow-through is essential * Strong analytical skills and solid understanding of key metrics that are used to measure success of programs under management * Working familiarity with online video production methods, digital video formats, codecs, and other specifications * Prior working experience with the Brightcove video platform a plus * Strong interest in spirituality and/or knowledge of spiritual or faith markets
