Responsibilities:
VP, Finance NE&O
Fox Networks Engineering & Operations group (NE&O) is recruiting a VP, Finance to work with the SVP, Finance & Operations. This person will report to the SVP, Finance & Operations.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and set direction for all financial functions of NE&O, a shared technical services organization, comprised of network centers located in Los Angeles and Houston (Division). - This position will act as an advisor to senior level executives on strategic, operational, program and organizational issues. - Work closely with and support the various client business units comprising the Fox Networks Group (FNG). - Oversee and develop a finance staff of 12 located in Los Angeles and Houston. - Direct and control all financial functions of the division. - Manage/improve financial performance, drive financial and business accountability and improve financial processes. - Review monthly financial close, monthly balance sheet reconciliations and related management reporting. - When necessary, defines the division's financial policies and operating procedures. - Oversee financial forecasting, annual budgeting, long term strategic financial plan development, accounting, financial reporting, cash management and capital budgeting. - Business/strategic partner and advisor to the division president, executive team and departments within the division. - Participate in the development of long term strategic plans. - Oversee financial forecasting and budgeting, including capital planning. - Provide management with information necessary to measure performance against budget and key metric targets. - Provide insights regarding emerging trends. - Develop business plans to support investments and business opportunities. - Enforce financial policies; balance operating goals with the need to maintain a sound financial control environment. - Coordinate and support the annual external audit process (Ernst & Young), NewsCorp internal audit reviews, SOX compliance and related reporting. - Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of monthly financial reporting and the integrity of the balance sheet. - Oversee capital planning and the related fixed asset accounting process. - Work closely with the Fixed Asset Manager, the various division operating departments and client business units to develop capital plans and manage related capital spending. - Coordinate with the Fox Entertainment Group (FEG) procurement department to review and initiate purchase orders. - This position maintains working relationships with peers across FNG and NewsCorp. - Coordinate and provide timely information and support to various client business units; this includes the coordination and review of monthly charges (including variance analysis and key metric reporting), quarterly expense forecasts, annual budgets and long term plans. - Coordinate facilities charges and capital expenditure requests to the extent they impact the books of any client business unit. - This position strives to maximize collaboration, leverage resources and share knowledge.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting; An MBA is preferred. - A minimum of 10 years experience managing a finance function is required. - Previous experience in broadcast and/or cable television is preferred. - Any experience with media production, facilities management, working with represented employee groups, fixed asset planning, acquisition and reporting would be beneficial. - Superior oral and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of staff and management, are necessary. - Strong mathematical and accounting skills are essential. - Proven analytical skills, operationally focused, process oriented - Excellent organizational and project management skills are required. - Proficiency in Excel is required. - Demonstrated management and leadership skills are necessary. - Demonstrated expertise in a variety of financial and technical concepts, practices, and procedures and proven interpersonal and negotiation skills are essential. - In addition to financial management expertise, this position requires an individual that is operationally focused and process oriented. - The ability to identify operating risks and opportunities and define/manage initiatives that will leverage the opportunities and mitigate the risks. - This position is characterized by someone that is flexible and can course-correct when needed. - This individual should be able to effectively partner with operating departments in delivering results and driving toward Company goals.
