Born in Caracas, Venezuela, Gustavo Enrique Bernal Pico has been interested in filmmaking, specially editing, since his early years. In 1993, he began working as an assistant editor at Bolivar Films, one of the largest productions companies in Venezuela. By 1994, he had directed his first short film, "This is a Recording", which won the distinguish Student Film Award VIART and also participated in several international festivals. Later that year, he became the youngest film instructor at Escuela de Cine y TV in Caracas. In 1996, he directed "PI", a sci-fi short film, which showed in several important international festivals in Cuba, Italy and Canada.

Over the next ten years, he became one of the busiest editors in the industry working for commercial productions companies, and local and international networks. During this time, he earned several awards and recognitions. In 2003, he moved to New York to continue pursuing his career in postproduction. Now, he is very much in demand in the field - teaching editing and working on feature films and music videos for highly respected artists such as Fall out Boy, We The Kings, Ricardo Montaner, Thalia, King Chango, among others. He also edit commercials for highly respected clients such as Direct TV, Nissan, Ad Council, Spike DDB, Crate & Barrel, Home Depot, Sprint, Lexus, NYC 2012, Warner Brothers TV.
