Other than your current job, what other job in the entertainment industry do you dream of doing?

I love the development process, working with writers to perfect their scripts and also teaching new writers either in story meetings as a development exec, as a speaker at film festivals and writing conferences, or in classrooms.

I began my Masters in 1991, then was lured into becoming a development exec. I returned to USC and finished my M.A. in screenwriting in 2005. I learned nearly nothing, perhaps because I'd already written a screenwriting book and had sold both feature and TV scripts before going back, but the workshop atmosphere was weak -- untrained screenwriters writing bad scripts and getting them critiqued by other untrained screenwriters.... read more
