I enjoyed the challenges of the job and he people I worked with. Until my boss retired. The next 14 months were extraordinarily difficult as the Clinic struggled to replace the Executive Director, a strong leader who had worked tirelessly on behalf of the organization for more than ten years. We went through 2 EDs in less than a year, before asking our original Director back. Having never been in a situation like this before, I was unprepared for what happened. At first I struggled to accept new leadership as I felt that they were not there for the Clinic's best interest, but merely to pad their resume. This was borne out when they left after less than 9 months in the job. I was fired without cause by the replacement, only to be hired back after he himself was fired. In the end I learned several important lessons: always be prepared to look for your next job; I have a talent for first impressions, I must trust my instinct for people and not be afraid to leave an untenable situation; finally, listen more than you speak.... read more

I enjoyed my time at Foothill. I had a teacher who was very passionate about film and encouraged a free exchange of ideas. Also, at $9/unit, this was easily the most cost-effective term of my education.

This was an up and down time for me. In the years since, I've realized I was not ready to leave home and get an education. Also, I never wanted to study EE, this was a major I got pushed into. I would advise most people that are thinking of a 4 year institution after high school to avoid colleges that require a choice of major before entry. I saw too many people, including me, flame out in major courses during their Freshmen year.... read more
