What's your ideal work environment?

Much like where I am now. My own office, lots of windows, caffeine, background noise, people open to answer my incessant questions...a cat...maybe an assistant to keep my ADHD in check.

How would you describe your time at Green Chair Scriptworks of NY?

Somebody pinch me! Mentored by an experienced screenwriter with impeccable credentials, I couldn't be more fortunate in my new venture as a contributing screenwriter. My ideas are welcomed and my prior professional experiences respected and appreciated. This job has afforded ongoing professional development through mentorship, creative challenges, vocational skill building, and (honest, immediate) constructive feedback. Family-friendly climate. The best part is that it feels like playing than actually working.... read more

How would you describe your time at Juvenile Field Services - S...?

Terrifically ambitious, exciting, tedious, gratifying, frustrating, disturbing, enlightening, infuriating, worthwhile, anxiety-inducing, and fun. This move from a my supportive role at GHI to supervision officer in the same department in corrections afforded me the opportunity to then take on a different, more authoritarian role, as a juvenile intensive supervision officer (a.k.a. probation & parole officer). My deepest regret was the inevitable erosion in the collaborative dynamics of the relationship with the youth and their families due to adversarial influence of the court system. As a supervision officer, I had actual authority over the youth. This fact changes the nature of the relationship and therefore the perception of trust by the youth. Oh, the lessons I've learned...... read more

How would you describe your time at GHI - Urban Region?

Initial culture shock with the move from a rural setting to an urban setting! More community resources are available to youth in urban communities, however, the number of youth needing services are far greater. It is difficult to compare the needs and barriers for youth in these two, very disparate contexts. - The anticipated conclusion of the grant period necessitated my transfer from one regional pilot program to another. I thoroughly enjoyed the youth and professionals in both areas.... read more

How would you describe your time at Going Home Inititiative - R...?

Challenging & gratifying - GHI was a federally funded juvenile justice pilot program focusing on providing services to youth with serious, chronic and violent offenses while also emphasizing offender accountability and community restoration. These youth face multiple challenges when re-entering their communities from juvenile correctional facilities. The GHI program employed the family group conference model which involves a planning meeting including the youth, juvenile correctional facility staff, community case management staff, and other stakeholders recruited specifically to assist in supporting the youth to be successful and accountable upon re-entry to the community.... read more

To say that Robin Gomez would not be an asset to any organization would be equivalent to telling a piece of marble that it has deteriorated through Michelangelo or silence, that it has been broken by Bach. Robin is incredibly intelligent, resourceful, energetic, dedicated, hard-working, caring, funny and an all around pleasure to be around. Truly, you will not find a better worker. Absolutely.
