How would you describe your time at MTV Production and Developm...?

I worked at MTV as an intern over the summer of 2007. My boss' boss wanted to hire me as her personal assistant and tried to get me to quit school to work for her. But, I had to turn it down because my parent's would have been extremely upset. In late November, she e-mailed me and asked me if I was available in December over my winter break to work as her assistant. Of course, I took the job and worked all of my winter break for MTV as a freelance production/personal assistant. I did a lot of work for her, including taking inventory of material, logging video, assuring talent was paid, finding locations for shoots, reviewing edits of shows, and working on copy for MTV.com. I worked on such popular shows at MTC like Newport Harbor, The Hills, Life of Ryan, Run's House, the upcoming How's Your News?, and many more. The work that I did freelance was product of the experience that I had from interning and bled over from the work that I had done the previous summer. During that summer, I also produced trend reports, ran videos and materials to locations, locations scouted, paid talent, reviewed pilots and episodes before airing, created production binders, and assured employees were reimbursed from onsite, out-of-pocket expenses. I also entertained co-workers when we were bored.... read more

How would you describe your time at Lannan Literary Fellowship?

I was selected to be a literary fellow at Georgetown, where I was able to work with prominent writers and poets and create my own pieces. The fellowship entailed attending a series of readings and events, offered by the lannan foundation, producing an original creative project related to a writer involved with the 2006-2007 Lannan Literary Series, and contributing to a creative volunteer experience with the District of Columbia???s After School Kids??? program, in effort to marry the ideas of poetry and literature to a mentoring program. It was a very good experience and very fun. I learned a lot about writing and creativity. The final product was a play that I wrote based off of the poetry of Derek Walcott, who I spoke with about the project.... read more

How would you describe your time at Georgetown University?

After Georgia State University, I transferred to this university to pursue two majors. I spent very much time acting in theatre and film, both professionally and student productions. From here, I got an internship at MTV in production and development. I also worked a work study job as a librarian. During my time here, I took many creative writing courses and acting courses. I continued to row for a half a year on the NCAA level, but had to drop it for a professional acting job. And, they were really, really mean and I did not like that. At all. I graduated cum laude and in the first class of Theatre and Performance Studies majors. I was in seven productions on campus and two professional productions. I won one Helen Hayes award for "Best Ensemble" in DC's Synetic Theatre's silent production of Macbeth.... read more

How would you describe your time at Georgia State University?

I entered this university as a Film and Video major and promptly switched to an English major in hopes of pursuing acting. I rowed for the two years hear on the GSU Crew lightweight squad. I eventually transferred out of the school because it was not challenging enough.
