The top three things that are affecting our industry today are music piracy, detrimental press coverage, and the ease of mp3 downloading.

Itunes has had incredible success, giving the consumer 24 hour access to minute-long downloads of their favorite songs. Although companies and products such as Limewire exist, it's hard not to see that people are still buying the product, and at a much higher rate than has been seen in the past with strict, in-store record sales.

Although, it's always talked about, sometimes true, sometimes false, and always entertaining, the detrimental press coverage of our favorite and sometimes most successful music artists is inevitable. Although I do not think that this bad press always affects an artist's success negatively, I do believe that it can have some affect on the image of an artist and the image of the professionals backing said artist.
