Do you attend networking events? If so, which ones?

I attend the career fairs given by my university, but due to the proximity of my school from civilization ( large cities) I am unable to attend other networking events. I really enjoy the career fair. I prefer to speak to people in person then to write. I do not feel letters are as impressionable as speaking one-on-one.
