What are the top three things affecting our industry today?
Tone, Market, & Risk
The economy is a vital part of our society. For those who try to make it big, I've learned that it's all about what the economy's status is for a particular film to come out. For example, the whole system runs on a cycle as was seen this past year. After the invasion to Iraq, war was a major theme in people's lives. So a lot of war epics would be created. A few months later when people got tired of hearing about war, then fantasy films kicked in. After the fantasy cycle comes the comedy cycle, and everything starts repeating itself based on what the market wants.
Now if you believe all of that, then that's sad, because none of that is true. If you want a role, a film, anything to be produced, it's all about how it's pitched. Nobody knows what they're looking for until they actually find it. So don't worry about what three things affect the industry, because there's only one answer. You.
