What are the top three things affecting our industry today?

Today is 8 February 2008 - so it has to be (immediately) the writer's strike.
The "Hollywood" image.
Taking the work elsewhere.
I'm doing 4 - the catch 22. Experience required, but how does one gain experience? Fresh life (ideas, directions) require fresh blood.
